Three Wheeled Buggies
If you're seeking a buggy to run around in or a stroller that can be used for neighbourhood walks, three wheeled buggies are great for mobility. Their compact design allows them to be maneuvered easily, even in tight spaces.
If you're looking for a smooth ride on your baby, select models with 360deg front wheels that can swivel. However, they are more prone to punctures, so be prepared with a repair kit.
Frame made of sturdy material
New figures show that three-wheeled buggies, the emblem of the noughties, which had more money than common sense, are in steep decline. They've been replaced with four-wheelers that are able to be more versatile in terrain, while also looking swanky and being easy to push.
The basic rule is that the bigger the wheels are, the easier it will be for your buggy to deal with bumpy and rough pavements. Having larger wheels both front and back also makes it much easier to maneuver and more stable when walking downhill or over difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy out with a newborn as well as a 3 year old and found it was able to withstand grass, cobbles, rough roads, dirt tracks, and kerbs. Kath said it felt solid to push, and very stable on difficult terrain. The tyres, which are inflatable and need to be pumped up occasionally, have built-in suspension. This was extremely comfortable for my children.
Another thing to consider is the size and shape. You will want it to be large enough to accommodate your child's comfort. You will also want it to be able to recline for them to lie flat. Certain three-wheel buggies come with the option of lying flat, which allows the child to face you, while other buggies only allow a face-to-parent one.
A great choice for tackling off-road and muddy walks is the Roma Atlas. This buggy is ideal for a single child as early as birth, and can be adapted to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for toddlers and infants from birth until age 4, and includes a bumper, raincover, an improved 5-point harness, and a huge padded seat. three wheel pushchair are great as well, with a decent-sized basket, zip pockets on the hood and an attractive pouch at the rear of the seat unit.
Larger wheels
Larger wheels mean that your buggy will have more stability on uneven terrain, which is ideal for buggies designed for off-road use. In addition, they make it easier to manoeuvre the buggy through tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies have rotating front wheels that help you navigate around tight corners, while others are designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability with which they can be driven. This is also helpful in the event that you hit the roots of a tree or stray kerb as the front wheel will lift up to keep you from hitting it.
Many 3 wheel pushchairs feature air-filled tyres. This means they are able to handle a variety of terrains and are more flexible than 4-wheeler. They are also lighter. However, they are prone to punctures and you'll need to have a repair kit, spare inner tube and pump in your bag.
Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo Lux are among our top 3-wheelers. According to MFM's Kath, have larger wheels that according to her "perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles" and are able to go up or down kerbs. The buggies also have suspension that, according to Kath "smooths out bumps very effectively".
Buggies with bigger wheels can be quite wide and may struggle to fit into tight spaces. This is a problem especially if you're using it to a jogger or to maneuver through narrow doorways when out and out and about. Many models have compact folding options, which let you remove the front wheels and store them more compactly.
Easy to maneuver
One of the major advantages to a three wheel buggy is that it can be much easier to maneuver particularly with a child on the way. The way in which they are built ensures that the front wheels rotate at a whim and are extremely maneuverable which makes them perfect for tricky terrain such as parks, cobbles, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tested a 3 wheeler with her newborn and toddler and wrote: "The Terrain was a pleasure to navigate over the rough terrain, with the swivel front wheel particularly useful. I was also impressed with how well it dealt with the kerbs, particularly when using the hand-operated brake. It was very stable in the downhills or on uneven terrain."
The only downside of this great maneuverability is that the three wheel buggy's larger wheels sometimes mean it has to struggle in tight spaces, something to consider when you live in a metropolitan region. If this is an issue then a 4-wheel buggy may be a better option for you.
Bumper bar
Bumper bars can shield your child from bumps and scrapes when out and about. These bumper bars are simple to install, and will help your child feel secure and safe while out and about.
This bumper bar was designed to match the sleek lines on your Slim Twin stroller. It comes with a soft, padded surface that provides an ideal place for your child to grasp onto during walks. The durable construction and sturdy design will ensure that your child will enjoy a stroll without worrying about falling out of the buggy or leaning too far ahead.
The sling seat made of fabric sits comfortably inside the frame rather than on top of it like modular seats do, providing the lower centre of gravity at the right height for your infant and also delivering excellent weight distribution for easy kerb pop (it requires less effort to push the buggy over and up a curb than you think). MFM reviewer Kath said it was ideal on cobbles and grass. It's also a great alternative for running, thanks to its air-filled tyres and lockable swivel wheel.
With a sophisticated and stylish design, this bumper bar is sure to turn heads wherever you go. Available in a variety of finishes and colours, it can be customized to fit your style. The bumper bar is easily installed and removed using a quick-release mechanism. The bumper bar is also easy to clean, as it is made of sturdy materials. This makes it a good choice for families looking for a stylish and safe stroller accessory.
Comfort
A 3-wheel buggy is a great off-road vehicle for maneuverability and performance. With the perfect design and engineering, as well as weight distribution this kind of buggy is able to be able to turn at a moment's notice and be a breeze to steer with one hand. All Mountain Buggies are tested to the same rigorous global stability standards and tests as buggies with 4 wheels.
The sport's clever design puts the fabric sling seat within the frame, not over it like modular seats. This allows it to have lower center of gravity which means it's easier to push, has a lighter curb-pop (you will not need to put in much effort to push the buggy's front end over a curb), and offers greater stability and balance. With the 16" rear wheels, lockable front wheel, and tyres that are air-filled, you can enjoy an easier, more comfortable jogging.
As the only all-terrain pushchair in our collection that comes with a parent-facing seat that can also take a carrycot or car seat and a car seat, you can ensure the future of your family and have fun on every adventure starting at day's end and for years to come - all within the footprint of a single buggy!
And that's not the only reason to adore this buggy Our MFM reviewer Kath was impressed by how spacious it is as well. There's a easily accessible, large basket that is quite spacious for a buggy that's this big. Additionally, there's a handy pouch on the back of the unit, and two smaller mesh pockets underneath the hood, where you can keep your keys and phone.
